Reverend Deacon David Zajac, BA, MAS, MAT
Catholic Church of America
David
was born and raised in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. He enjoyed
grade school
and high school where he was an avid
guitar and banjo player. David entered Saint
Charles Borromeo Seminary in 1981
after having graduated from Archbishop Kennedy
High School. He completed his BA
Philosophy there and went on to study theology. He
finished his master’s in theology at
Catholic Distance University writing his thesis on
addiction and overcoming addiction
through spirituality. David also has his Masters in
international finance from Johns
Hopkins University.
Being of Polish descent, in 1991,
David received a two-year scholarship from the Polish
government to study Polish language
and history at the Jagellonian University in
Krakow. He enjoyed 6 years in Poland
as it exposed him to different cultures and ideas.
Poland was a budding democracy at
this time. David worked for a multimedia company
developing software and implementing
western accounting systems in Polish.
Having returned to the US in 1996, he
began working in Oracle software development
as a consultant in the Oracle HR
suite of products. He has been working in that field
ever since.
David always felt a calling to
the priesthood. He met Bishop Thomas Abel who is a retired
bishop in the Catholic Church of
America. He was talking with Bishop Tom at a friend’s
gathering and there discussed his
calling to Holy Orders. David then restarted his journey to
ordination. He was ordained as Deacon on December
14, 2024, by His Excellency, Most Reverend Mark Earl, the
Presiding Bishop of the Catholic Church of America. David serves as a Chaplin at a local hospital in the Las Vegas
area.
